Nearly 50 years have passed from when the McCormick factory opened

and started producing quality farm tractors. All these years on, the company has now

been reborn and production has already started on a new line of McCormick tractors.

Towards the end of 2000 and early 2001, it was made known that the Landini company

had purchased the Case factory in Doncaster, McCormick name and the CX and MX-C

tractor designs to make the McCormick Tractors International.

The old brand name have many fans, who the company hope will make an investment in

one of the new tractors. The company wanted to produce competition in the market, as

there were too much merging. So under the agreement between CNH and Landini,

Landini will acquire the Doncaster plant and all commercial and technical rights to the

CX and MX C tractors. The McCormick company will have to still build CX and MX C

tractors for CNH in Case livery for sale outside the EU and to produce the 100-160hp

Maxxum tractors for Case dealers to sell. McCormick will also restyle the MX Maxxum

for sale alongside their current Case designed models. McCormick has been given access

to all Case delaers throughout the EEA and Switzerland, plus the New Holland dealers

in Denmark to sell CX and MC tractors for as long as they like.

In Denmark, Austria, Belgium, UK, Ireland and Luxembourg, Case are not allowed to

launch models which may compete with McCormick's CX and MC tractors for a period

of two years. CNH will now provide parts for MC and CX McCormick tractors through

Case dealers. Initially, about a quater of production will be sold in the UK and Ireland.

This would be around 500 units, 80% will be CX and 20% MC tractors.

(X dropped from MXC tractors by McCormick.) The only difference from the Case

models of 1st production tractors, is new silver and red livery.

The first McCormick tractor which rolled of the production line was a CX90 which

is off to the Paris Sima show February this month to promote itself to the EU market.

The CX range is in 2 and 4 wheel drive, prices are from

£15,172 for a CX50 to £36, 292 for a CX100 4wd, Deluxe cab and front link.

The MC range, 4wd, prices are

£31,584 fo a MC90 and £33,663 for a MC100.

Lets hope McCormick can keep up the quality of tractors produced by Case IH in

the past 5-10 years.
